"Mediterranemente" is a cultural project
promoted by "
Homo Mediterraneus"
The Tabula Peutingeriana, a medieval copy of a Roman map, effectively sums up the unity of the Mare Nostrum, showing the links between the peoples who live around the sea. The cultural project "MediterraneaMente", supported by "Homo Mediterraneus", aims to promote through cultural events the unitive values of the Mediterranean Sea, thanks to the teaching of history.
Over the centuries, three great civilizations - the Roman-Catholic, the Greek-Orthodox and the Islamic - have entered several times in contact one with another, sometimes in a violent, most often in a peaceful way, giving rise to that human category that the most recent historiography has summarized in the concept of "homo mediterraneus".
The teaching more important that we draw from past experiences is that only dialogue and peaceful coexistence between the different civilizations can enrich the Mediterranean world, making it a peaceful place to trade. In this meaning, "MediterraneaMente" intends to contribute with its cultural initiatives to strengthen dialogue between the civilizations of the Mediterranean basin, of which Italy - for its history and its geographic position - is the heart.

VIRTUAL
This section proposes an ideal route along the "Mediterranean Subway" through virtual visits in some cities representative of the civilizations and cultures of the Mediterranean world. The twenty stops of the trail allow to live ideally one day in each of these cities located around the Sea.
MEDITERRANEAN BIBLIOGRAPHY
Within the "MediterraneaMente" project, in honor of studies prof. Guglielmo de' Giovanni-Centelles, the Scientific Committee of Homo Mediterraneus has promoted the creation of a database, available on-line, which collects the bibliography on the Mediterranean in the Middle Ages.
